The Sunshine Activities

2. Organized outings for the resident to shopping malls, parks, schools.
3. Organized visits to kindergartens and schools to promote greater awareness of the disabled in the community.
4. Fund raising in various activities – handicraft sales / raffles etc. The proceeds are utilized for the general benefit of the residents.
5. Recycling Project – which is ongoing and the proceeds from which go to Selangor Cheshire Home.

Special Projects

1. The Sunshine Garden – the Sunshine Group helped to beautify and green the Home with a garden aptly named ‘The Sunshine Garden’.
2. Batik Sessions – the Sunshine Group engages the creativity of the residents in batik drawing sessions with En. Lazim of Karyaneka. The batik pieces are then stitched into wall hangings for sale.
3. Running of the KL Sentral Thrift Shop – the Sunshine Group helped the residents in managing the shop from July 2005 to Nov 2006. The residents now take turns I the day to day running of the shop.
4. Provision of regular servicing of the residents’ wheelchairs for efficient mobility.
5. 2 picture books, ‘My Best Friend’ and ‘My Shop and My Best Friend’ written by Keats Markandu as part of the ongoing awareness campaign for the disabled were launched at the British Council, KL on 3 Dec 2006, the International Day of Disabled Persons. Together with the residents, the Sunshine Group visited schools, kindergartens and colleges to promote the disability message through the books. All proceeds were donated to the Selangor Cheshire Home.
